At West Craven, personal development is at the core of what we do. Our intent is to guide, educate and inspire our students to lead a responsible, respectful and healthy life in which they contribute to society in a meaningful and positive way.
Our Personal Development curriculum is designed to cover all aspects of statutory guidance and reflect the needs of our local area as well as preparing students for life in modern Britain. Through a carefully crafted curriculum which informs and promotes spiritual, moral, social, cultural, emotional and physical development that will provide students with the skills to take advantage of opportunities that present themselves in future life. Our curriculum is supplemented by a range of external speakers who provide expertise and a fresh perspective on important, age appropriate, life issues that face our students. To allow students to discover their own passions, we provide a wide range of opportunities outside of the classroom for students to take advantage of, such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Through our careers programme, students acquire the skills and knowledge of local and national jobs market to make informed decisions about their next education and training after secondary school and beyond. At the forefront of our careers provision is the Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance.
