To move your current grade of a 3 to an actual grade 4

    • Make sure you revise key vocabulary, tenses and opinions. You should be able to recognise these for the listening and reading papers and use them yourself in the speaking and writing papers.
    • In the writing and speaking exams you need to be able to recognise which tense the question is being asked in, so that you can respond appropriately.
    • When preparing for the speaking exam, ensure that you have properly revised your chosen theme for the general conversation. You must also ask your teacher a question. Make sure that you know what you are asking and that your pronunciation is correct.

To move your current grade of a 4 to an actual grade 5

    • As above – the wider your vocabulary the more complex speaking and writing you will be able to do.

    • Listening – listen to GCSE podcasts on YouTube. This will help you to recognise phrases, pick up on new words and the rhythm of the language.
    • Reading – use the revision guide and the practice questions. Check your work with the answers in the back of the revision guide.
    • Writing – practise answering the different types of question that you will be posed. Offer your own thoughts and opinions in answers where appropriate.
