Students shine on Spanish football adventure

During the recent half-term, a group of enthusiastic West Craven High School students traded their classrooms for an unforgettable football trip to Spain.

Students enjoyed professional coaching at Villarreal CF’s world-class facilities, played competitive fixtures against local Spanish academies, and explored the cultural highlights of Benicàssim.

After arriving in Spain and settling into their hotel, students quickly bonded during a fun ten-pin bowling evening. The next days were packed with intense training sessions run by Villarreal’s professional coaches, with everyone enthusiastically participating in drills and friendly matches. Facing off against local academy teams, each squad demonstrated teamwork, resilience, and outstanding sportsmanship, while also cheering on their peers from the sidelines.

Beyond the pitch, students were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of Villarreal CF’s iconic Estadio de la Cerámica, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of top-level football and picking up souvenirs along the way. Leisure time included relaxing at Benicàssim’s beautiful beach and shopping at a nearby centre, with plenty of opportunities to soak up the Spanish sunshine.

As the tour concluded, students received certificates from Villarreal’s coaching staff, recognising their hard work and dedication. Throughout the trip, students represented West Craven High School with pride, enthusiasm, and exemplary behaviour, making the most of every moment.

Mr Wilson, Head of PE, commented: “The students were a credit to themselves and the school. Their commitment, teamwork, and positive attitude were outstanding, and I have no doubt this experience will inspire them for years to come.”

The school extends heartfelt thanks to all staff, coaches, and Villarreal CF for making this memorable adventure possible.
