This qualification is designed for learners who want an introduction to Health and Fitness that includes a vocational and project-based element. The qualification will appeal to learners who wish to pursue a career in the Health and Fitness sector or progress onto further study. Students will study key knowledge, understanding and skills that relate to working in the Fitness sector. They will also have the opportunity to apply what they learn by completing practical and coursework activities.
In the first year of the course the pupils will look at all aspects of the human body: The skeletal system, muscular system, cardio vascular system, respiratory system, and the heart. They will look at training and how to deliver a training programme.
In Year 11, they will sit an external exam which is worth 40% of the overall grade and then produce an internal synopsis worth 60% of the overall grade.
