History

Use the revision guides alongside the revision program that your teacher has put together. The program has broken down all of the content into smaller chunks. Put into practice the revision techniques that you have shown.

Make use of GCSE Bitesize, GCSE Pod and Seneca Learning to support your revision.

To move your current grade of a 3 to an actual grade 4

  • Make sure you revise the key events. In the exam if you are not writing about specific events you will not score marks needed for a grade 4.
  • Organise your answers in the way that you have been shown for the different style of question.
  • Use the practice questions and answers in the back of the revision guides.
  • When answering source based questions make sure that you use both the content and the provenance (background information).
  • Answer all the questions do not miss them out.

To move your current grade of a 4 to an actual grade 5

  • Complete practice questions and hand them in so I can mark them and give you feedback.
  • Use the practice questions and model answers in the revision guide. The guide offers you guidance on how to improve your written answers to the different style of question.
  • Organise your answers in the way that you have been shown for the different style of question. Watch your timing – don’t spend longer than you should on a question (1 and half minutes per mark)

4 marks = 6 minutes

8 marks = 12 minutes

12 marks = 18 minutes

16 marks = 24 minutes

  • Do not just describe events but focus your answer on the question asked.
  • Give more than one example to support your answer.

To achieve the highest grades

  • Can show how events are linked
