Steps to success

To move your current grade of a 3 to an actual grade 4 

  • Do you know your keywords? It is important that you know them and their meaning to ensure that marks are not lost when answering questions. 
  • Have you made a revision plan? Write a list of all your topic areas – your revision guide has these in a list at the front of the book and plan your revision around these. 
  • Repeat, repeat, repeat, - complete the check and challenge tasks on GCSE pod aiming to get your progress to 100%. 
  • Practise the multiple- choice questions that have been provided on class charts for you. Use the mark scheme to mark your answers. Make a note of the incorrect answers so that you do note make the same mistakes in the GCSE examination. 
  • Practise the 1,2, and 4,mark questions using the past papers and mark schemes that have been placed on class charts for you. 
  • Attend revision classes and complete all homework task.

  • Do you know the difference between similar sounding words and concepts? Factors of production and methods of production; primary and secondary market research; income statement and statement of financial position; gross profit margin and net profit margin; limited and unlimited liability; stakeholder and shareholder; organic growth and external growth; economies and diseconomies of scale; interest rate and exchange rate; imports and exports; national minimum wage and national living wage; centralisation and decentralisation; delayering and delegation; internal and external sources of finance etc. 
  • Practise the 6- and 9-mark questions that are included on the past papers on class charts. Compare our answer to the mark scheme. 
  • Check you can calculate percentages confidently – this is an area that often loses students valuable marks. 

To achieve the highest grades  

  • You need to be confident with your knowledge but also the quality of your written communication and structure of the 9- and 12-marks questions needs to be of Level 3 standard. Use the 9- and 12-mark questions that are on the past examination papers and practise answering these questions. Use the mark scheme to self -mark and compare your answer. 
  • Use the template for answering these questions that is on class charts for you. 

For all students - As with all revision Mr Bates and Mrs Thompson are more than happy to mark any past paper questions that you may undertake as part of your revision and provide you with timely feedback 

For all students it is also beneficial to attend the after -school revision sessions and complete all homework tasks.
