Revision

Use your revision guides to revise topic by topic.  Use the summary questions at the end of each topic – remember to go to the pages numbered to find the information if you can’t answer the question.  Choose your least favourite topics to focus on first – these are likely to be your weakest and the ones that need the most work.

Know what is on each paper:

Getting the grades:

To move your current grade of a 3 to an actual grade 4

  • Be able to recall basic facts and describe simple process and phenomena.? Carry out simple practical methods, analyse results to make basic conclusions?

To move your current grade of a 4 to an actual grade 5

All the above plus:

  • Be able to explain scientifically why phenomena take place.? Explain why certain procedures and methods are used, how this affects accuracy and validity of results, identify sources of error.

To achieve the highest grades

All the above plus:

  • Make complex links between phenomena to explain them in great depth and detail.  Apply scientific thinking, knowledge and ideas to knew and unknown examples.  Evaluate practical methods and analyse results to identify sources of errors/inaccuracies and suggest ways to improve these.
