West Craven High School celebrates student achievement at annual Star Awards

West Craven High School recently hosted its annual Star Awards, an evening filled with celebration, inspiration, and pride.

The event welcomed back a former student, Emily-Jayne Austin, who is now pursuing an integrated Masters in Medical Engineering at the University of York. Emily-Jayne took to the stage to share her journey, encouraging current students to overcome adversity and embrace every opportunity.

Awards were presented to students for academic excellence, outstanding attendance, sporting achievements, and extra-curricular success. Last year’s GCSE students returned to collect subject and achievement prizes, as well as their GCSE certificates. The audience was also treated to uplifting performances from the school choir, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Reflecting on the evening, Mr Bates, Principal of West Craven High School, said: “We had a fantastic evening with our current and former students, their families and our special guests, celebrating a wide range of achievements. These young people have demonstrated what it means to be 'Star' West Craven students. These are the students that make us proud of what we do as teachers. Congratulations to all of the award winners on the night, especially our Class of 2025 whose progress and achievements we are looking forward to following over the next few years.”
