Back in December, at the Pendle Schools’ Cross Country several West Craven High School students qualified to represent Pendle at the Lancashire Schools’ Cross Country. This was held at Witton Park, Blackburn on Saturday, 3 February.
Representing the Junior Boys, Year 9 student Jack Villiers ran a fantastic 4km race in cold, wet and muddy conditions to cross the finish line in 2nd place, with an impressive time of 15:22. Jack has been selected to represent the Lancashire Schools’ team at the English Schools’ Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at Temple Newsam Park, Leeds on Saturday, 17 March. What a fantastic achievement, well done Jack. Good luck!
Running in the Junior Girls category was Caitlin Raynor, Year 8, and Harrield Woodhead, Year 9. Harriet finished in 47th place in 17:35. Sadly, Caitlin failed to complete the course due to ill health.
7 student, Ciara Duffy finished in the top half of the Year 7 Girls results table finishing 33rd out of 68 runners with a creditable time of 11:10 for 2km. Leo Garner representing 7 Boys finished in 12:09.
I’m sure you’ll agree some fantastic achievements from our West Craven High School runners. Well done to your all.
